Math Problem

You were invited to join a discussion for the future of learning, there are 20 people there (including you) and everyone's going to handshake each other once. How many handshakes are going to occur?

Though many may think at first that the answer is 380, that answer is incorrect.
So, How did we reach the answer of 380?

there are 20 people and everyone is going to handshake each other, but they can't handshake themselves. So many people may think "19x20=380".

Imagine this, you are in a group of 4 and you are going to handshake everyone once.
you handshake 3 people, the second handshakes 2 and the third handshakes 1, while the fourth doesn't handshake anyone for he/she already shook the others hands. making it only 6 handshakes.

How do you solve this? many at this moment "19+18+17... 3+2+1". how do you simplify this?
There are 2 tricks, The simplest one is working on 3 smaller cases and trying to find a pattern.

4 people = 6 handshakes. And if we used the wrong way, we get 12 (3x4) cause you can't handshake yourself.
5 people = 10 handshakes. Using the same wrong technique, we get 20 (4x5)
6 people = 15 handshakes. Again with the same technique, we get 30 (5x6)
Can you see a pattern? if we use the same technique, we always get twice more than the correct answer.
19x20 =190
    2

This is the second trick. you split 20 into 2 groups, 1-10 and 11-20 (no, this is not subtraction).
You add the smallest number of the smaller group to the largest number of the largest group, 1+20=21.
Then you do the same thing again only with the second smallest and the second largest, 2+19=21
Then the same thing with the 3rd, 3+18=21.
Can you see the pattern? You multiply the answer with the largest number in the smaller group, which would be 10 and you get the answer of 210, but you can't handshake yourself, 210-20=190.

Right now I'm stuck in a problem and I only have 3 minutes to solve it. What's that problem you ask?    I blogged about the wrong thing...

PICTUREPEDIA

I am currently reading a book called Picturepedia.
As the name suggests, Picturepidea is an encyclopedia that contains information and pictures.
Picturepedia doesn't just cover facts regarding science but it also covers facts about history, religion, cultures and much more.

BellWork: It CAN'T Be TRUE!

I've been reading a book simply about random scientifical and mathematical facts.
It's called "IT CAN'T BE TRUE!"

The book author is Dorling Kindersley.
It contains random facts such as what animal has the largest eyeball? Or what is the largest insect? etc.

The thing I like about this book is that it shows an actual visual representation and comparison of the object's scale.

The most surprising fact that I've read is the size of a comet's coma. A coma of a comet is made out of small particles breaking away from the nucleus and can spread as nearly as big as Jupiter.

Commitment

This term, term 4. we are learning about Commitment.
The question is...
What does Commitment mean to me?
Commitment: To never give up no matter the consequences and try to pull your best within your ability.

Being committed for me is very hard. I triy again and again on small and simple things and it managed to work out. But that isn't real commitment. I was committed on reaching a goal and people push me to do better, which is a good thing, but everyone has a limit on being pushed and I have been pushed way too far. Many people think that I give up too easily and that's because I am being pressured on doing thing I was never really interested in.

Some may think "What about your 3D designs?" the answer is simple, it's because I can see my work pay off.

So basically, commitment is for people who have a dream to achieve, those who are prepared to face challenges that are going to break your mentality.

My Dream House TinkerCad Creation

So recently I made a creation, well not recently but something did happen recently.
In TinkerCad there's a bug going on which made the "Notifications" Unavailable for a day or two, so I was checking the gallery in the staff favourites section an I saw something weird... another one of my creations went up there :|
To some people it might be a good thing but Elok, a friend of mine in TinkerCad disagree with the fact that "My Dream House" is a staff favourite

"In all honesty, I would have picked other designs by DJ over this for a staff favourite... but I'm not the staff, things like his Steampunk BattleShip, for example."

And I do agree with him.

But still, here's "My Dream House"

It's still progress
Here are some photos of it.

Art

Learning Process
I already knew about light sketching, but I'm bad at it. so I decided to stay with 'Rough Sketch'.
I rarely use wire frames for the body unless if it's an original freehand drawing by me or a step by step.

A lot  of my classmates think that I got this of from YouTube when it's actually all from my head except for NO.3 sketch.

NO.1 Sketch: Just popped out of my mind.
NO.2 Sketch:Based of a 3D design of mine.
NO.3 Sketch: Saitama from One Punch Man

Kowhatu Toi Rock painting

Kowhatu Toi Rock Art
This week we've been drawing on the rocks and started painting on them.
The 3 that I have been making is
a Hammer Head Shark(Mango pare)
 Koru(Fern)
A Face(Niho Taniwha for the mouth, Mangopare for the nose and 2 RapeRapes for the eyes)
This is the Hammer head shark(Mangopare) it was design that randomly popped out of my head and when I made it, it looks like a demon if flipped.
This design is a Koru with 2 Niho Taniwha's at it's side.
This one is the face, it has 2 RapeRapes for the eyes a Mangopare for the nose and the Niho Taniwha as its mouth.
