Safety Signs

Safety signs are there for an obvious reason: To help us avoid danger. Safety signs are there to eliminate/minimize/avoid different dangers through different actions.
To eliminate a danger, you remove the cause of the danger.
To minimize danger, you add protection to minimize the damage.
To avoid danger, you restrict what activates the cause of the danger.

Hazard Signs are there to warn us about the potential dangers in the area.
All Hazard Signs have black as the main color and yellow as the background.
With this distinct coloration, identifying whether it is a hazard sign is easy.

                      Trip Hazard

Mandatory signs are there to help us minimize the damage/danger or both at the same time.
Mandatory signs do this by showing us what we have to do.
Mandatory signs have a light blue background-color and white line color.
Bags Under table
Prohibition signs are there to stop us from doing are bringing the cause of the danger, prohibition signs are there to eliminate/minimize the cause of danger by warning us.
Prohibition signs have a red circle outline and a red diagonal line with a white background and black outlines.

Testing For Simple And Complex Sugars.

BENEDICT'S TEST
Testing for Simple Sugars

Aim: To test of food to determine whether it contains simple sugars.
Equipment: Bunsen Burner, test tube tongs, Benedict's Solution, a sample of food.

Method:
1. Place about 2 mL of the sample into a test tube and then add 5 drops of Benedicts Solution.
2. Heat with Bunsen Burner until it changes color. DO NOT BOIL

Results: A positive test for a simple sugar results in Benedict's Solution changing from an aquamarine blue color to an opaque orange color. No color change is a negative result

Conclusion: The solution changing color means that the food has simple sugars in it if not, it does not have simple sugars in it.

THE IODINE TEST
Testing for Complex Sugars

Aim: To test if a sample of food contains complex sugars.
Equipment: Test tube, food sample, iodine solution.

Method:
1. Place about 2 mL of the sample in a test tube
2. add 3-5 drops of iodine and mix

Results: If complex sugars are present, the iodine solution will change from brown to blue/black. If the iodine solution does not change color, then no complex sugars are present.

DTE: Ergonomics

This is my presentation for Ergonomics. It is obviously not complete, as you can see because I didn't have enough information to cram into the Slide to make it look as if I've finished.
I used PiktoChart to create this presentation.

DTE: INTERLAND

What is Interland?
Interland is a simple game about the internet. The game has 4 levels with different topics:
King Kingdom, Reality River, Mindful Mountain and Tower of Treasure. These levels are not separated and sorted by difficulty for each level gets harder and harder as you progress.

The first level, King Kingdom, is about helping others who are being cyberbullied and how to do it, such as reporting or blocking the bully. This level is a 3rd person game similar to Water Girl And Fire Boy.
"Respect each other"

The second level, Reality River, is about being able to do the right thing in certain situations while on the internet, such as sharing information, knowing what is fake and what is not, knowing whether it is a scam or not etc. This level is a question game.
"Check if it's for real"

The third level, Mindful Mountain, is about knowing who to share your things such as photos, videos, personal information etc. This level is a laser puzzle-based game.
"Think before you share"

The fourth level, Tower of Treasure, Is about knowing what kind of passwords to use to keep yourself secure from people trying to gain whatever it is they want from you. This level has 2 stages, the first is a running game similar to Run, the second being an answering game.
"Secure your secrets"

DTE: Digital Bytes - Haters and Trolls

In DTE, we were exploring Digital Bytes and were told to explore more of the website and do the activities below what we clicked. I clicked 'Our Generation' and more things popped up. one of which was "Haters and Trolls, so I watched the video and below it was 3 questions that we were told to answer, these are my answers.

What was your biggest takeaway from this video?
We overreact to these situations as if it was a large problem. Can't we just report or ignore these things?

What part of This Video struck you the most?
How people respond to these situations. What happens to you is normal on the internet and solving it is impossible. Actions like these are wrong and will always be, but it doesn’t mean it can be fixed just because it is wrong.

Why?
This is the internet. What did you expect? The people using the internet will do this because they have the freedom to do so. As long as a medium with freedom exists, harassment will be common and it can’t be stopped as long as this freedom remains. People who use the internet aren’t abusing the power they have because nothing is holding them back, it isn’t freedom if there are restraints. There are punishments for those who do these deeds, but not all of them will be delivered directly or correctly.

Nitro Type Race

Today in English we were given 15 minutes to do whatever we like as long as it relates to literacy.
So I played a game called NitroType.
One of my friends, Greg, invited me into a room with Reige to do a typing race.
Greg was obviously going to win regardless of the effort we put in.
His typing speed is more than twice that of the speed of mine.

SoundTrack of my life

In English, we were told to make a slide consisting of our favorite songs and the reason why we like them, the slide is to be titled "SoundTrack of my Life".
I couldn't add a theme onto it for it ruins the structure of the slide so I left it as default.

Whare Tapa Wha

Whare tapa wha is about our haoru, our 4 dimensions of wellbeing, Social, Mental, Spiritual, Physical.
This is house NO.2, I made it all by myself while the others make house NO.1. House NO.2 is simply a backup house just in case the first house doesn't work out. the first house didn't work out and ended up looking like a broken box, so we decided to use the backup house.

The 4 walls of the whare resemble the 4 dimensions of the whare and the roof resembles the entirety of the whare.

Table Tennis Ball Drop

Aim:
To see how high the ball bounces in relation to how high the ball is dropped.

Hypothesis:

The higher the ball is dropped, the higher it bounces.

Method:
Drop the ball in a certain height then measure the height of the bounce, repeat this process at least 3 times and collect the data. Compare the data and calculate the average.

Independet Variable: Height dropped.
Dependent Variable: Height measured.
Control Variavble: Height bounced.

Math Problem

You were invited to join a discussion for the future of learning, there are 20 people there (including you) and everyone's going to handshake each other once. How many handshakes are going to occur?

Though many may think at first that the answer is 380, that answer is incorrect.
So, How did we reach the answer of 380?

there are 20 people and everyone is going to handshake each other, but they can't handshake themselves. So many people may think "19x20=380".

Imagine this, you are in a group of 4 and you are going to handshake everyone once.
you handshake 3 people, the second handshakes 2 and the third handshakes 1, while the fourth doesn't handshake anyone for he/she already shook the others hands. making it only 6 handshakes.

How do you solve this? many at this moment "19+18+17... 3+2+1". how do you simplify this?
There are 2 tricks, The simplest one is working on 3 smaller cases and trying to find a pattern.

4 people = 6 handshakes. And if we used the wrong way, we get 12 (3x4) cause you can't handshake yourself.
5 people = 10 handshakes. Using the same wrong technique, we get 20 (4x5)
6 people = 15 handshakes. Again with the same technique, we get 30 (5x6)
Can you see a pattern? if we use the same technique, we always get twice more than the correct answer.
19x20 =190
    2

This is the second trick. you split 20 into 2 groups, 1-10 and 11-20 (no, this is not subtraction).
You add the smallest number of the smaller group to the largest number of the largest group, 1+20=21.
Then you do the same thing again only with the second smallest and the second largest, 2+19=21
Then the same thing with the 3rd, 3+18=21.
Can you see the pattern? You multiply the answer with the largest number in the smaller group, which would be 10 and you get the answer of 210, but you can't handshake yourself, 210-20=190.

Right now I'm stuck in a problem and I only have 3 minutes to solve it. What's that problem you ask?    I blogged about the wrong thing...

BellWork: It CAN'T Be TRUE!

I've been reading a book simply about random scientifical and mathematical facts.
It's called "IT CAN'T BE TRUE!"

The book author is Dorling Kindersley.
It contains random facts such as what animal has the largest eyeball? Or what is the largest insect? etc.

The thing I like about this book is that it shows an actual visual representation and comparison of the object's scale.

The most surprising fact that I've read is the size of a comet's coma. A coma of a comet is made out of small particles breaking away from the nucleus and can spread as nearly as big as Jupiter.
